Aim

The Journal of Phytological Sciences is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research that advances the understanding of plants and other photosynthetic organisms across all levels of biological organization—from molecules and cells to tissues, organs, whole plants, populations, and ecosystems. The journal provides a global platform for basic, applied, translational, and quantitative research that addresses fundamental mechanisms of plant growth, development, physiology, adaptation, evolution, and interactions with biotic and abiotic environments.

The journal aims to advance rigorous and innovative research across all areas of plant biology and plant sciences; foster interdisciplinary integration of molecular biology, genetics, physiology, development, ecology, evolution, biotechnology, and computational biology; promote cutting-edge technologies including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, phenomics, bioinformatics, and artificial intelligence; support research that enhances understanding of plant responses to environmental stresses, plant–microbe interactions, and mechanisms underlying productivity and resilience; encourage advances in crop improvement, genome editing, synthetic biology, and sustainable agricultural applications; accelerate discoveries in emerging areas such as single-cell and spatial biology, quantitative plant biology, systems biology, and digital phenotyping; promote open science, reproducibility, and responsible innovation in plant research; address global challenges related to food security, climate change, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable bioresource utilization; and provide an inclusive international forum for plant biologists, agronomists, ecologists, biotechnologists, and computational scientists worldwide.

By integrating fundamental discoveries with technological innovation and real-world applications, the journal aims to become a leading global resource for research that advances plant science and contributes to sustainable agriculture, ecosystem resilience, and environmental stewardship.
